About Nick

This is the little bit where I waffle on about my second Landrover - Mertyl - an N reg Defender 90 300TDi County Station Wagon.

When I got it - Mertyl had an accident and ended up on its roof, I won't show a picture of it, because Mertyl would get upset! Anyway, Sara (the wife) and I got some more panels and put her back together again in just one weekend. So now she sports a fetching two tone paint effect and lots of panels just overflowing with "character"!

We've really put Mertyl through her paces since we got her last October, and also done a few modifications to boot.

First thing I had to do was give it a suspension lift - although landies are the best in standard format, I was greedy and wanted more! Range Rover heavy duty police spec rear springs all round seemed a good choice and matched them with +2" procomp shocks.

Here`s the standard drop on the front followed by the butchery to get the old springs off

Not too shabby, but just wait till you see the end result!

Looking good!

And here`s some pictures of Mertyl doing some RTV`s and generally playing in the mud. The Yorkshire Offroad Club really now how to set out a good trial, so much so the club even get mentioned in LRE quite frequently.

and at my favourite offroad site - TONG! Thank god for snorkels and half decent door seals (ok, the seals did leak a little bit - well actually it took over 2 hours to clean the chassis and front carpets of mud!).

And this is how all landrovers should look after a play - in fact Landrovers should look like this all the time! If yours is shiny - GO OUT NOW AND GET IT MUDDY!!!

There's load more pictures of Mertyl (if your still interested and want to see more) in the gallery section and plastered over several other websites - namely the club website www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net and various threads on www.difflock.com plus a few others kicking about. I'll be adding more to this site, such as the home built snorkel and internal rollcage/dog guard and any other good photos from trials events as and when I get time and as the trials are run,

See ya later,

Nick
